Dear Reader,
My name is Tilda, aka the Pop Classicist!
I am a 26-year-old author, student, artist and teacher, born and raised in London, and educated at Cambridge.
When I am not working on these creative and educational ventures, you will most likely find me in a bookshop, gallery, theatre, or on the football pitch. My other hobbies include playing guitar; cooking; surfing; running; hiking; and wild-swimming.
If you would like to learn more about me, or to tell me about you, please get in touch via the contact form at the bottom of this page! I would love to make your acquaintance.
STUDENT
I have an MPhil and BA in Classics from the University of Cambridge, where I specialised in Classical Reception and produced research including:
- MPhil Thesis: ‘Caesar(s) in Pop’ – an exploration of Julius Caesar in pop music.
- MPhil Project I: ‘‘Classical Presences in E.M. Forster’s Early Short Stories’.
- MPhil Project II: ‘Classical Sculpture and Scientific Racism’.
- MPhil Project III: ‘Gore Vidal’s Conceptualisation of Sexuality: from Ancient Rome to Hollywood’.
- BA Thesis: ‘Mark Twain and Petronius’.
Going forward, I hope to commence a PhD in Classical Reception/Comparative Literature.
TEACHER
From my Mum to my Granny to my Great-Aunt, I hail from a family of teachers. Education – and increasing the accessibility of languages, literatures, and histories – is at the heart of both my academic and creative practices.
At present, I offer one-to-one support to students in Classics, Latin, and English. Read more below!
AUTHOR
I am currently seeking representation for my first novel, A STORY OF SORROW, a science-fiction retelling of Homer’s Iliad. If this project sounds of interest you, please get in touch. I would love to tell you more about it.
